My love, my muse. Last Year my boyfriend and I went to the Indianapolis Zoo and I took some photos of him feeding the parakeets. This little bird landed on his plaid shirt, confusing the pattern for food. Sooo cute!

This is part of a series of “Animal Portraits” featuring animals that can be found around Indiana. I wanted to introduce people to the local flora and fauna, while also elevating them. It is very easy to treat small animals as pests, as intruders who should be eliminated. But I would argue they play a very important role in supporting our ecosystems.

Last fall I spent the day at Holiday Park in Indianapolis, IN taking photos. I took a few of the White River that I really enjoyed and decided to use them as the subject of my first landscape painting. This was truly a learning experience as my focus is generally on the foreground, while I ignore the background.
